#1.  Defining Hacker :)

• HACKER - One of the most feared terms in today's world or considered as criminals in the modern world . Now do you as a normal user fear when you hear about a hacker or suddenly a crime related to hacking comes to your mind ?? What if I tell you that hackers are not criminals instead they are working to safeguard normal users as you from cyber criminals. :p

On hearing the word “HACKER” most of the people are scared. Most of them think of hacker as a computer vandals. But hackers are not computer criminals

Hacker is a person who breaches into anybody’s computer systems or computer networks either for the purpose of  fun, educational or security purposes is called a hacker.

Traditionally, hackers are computer geeks who know almost everything about computers both hardware and software and are widely respected for their knowledge.

The hackers working in the field of cyber security are called "ETHICAL HACKERS".

Now you might be thinking if hackers or ethical hackers are saviours of the cyber world ( That's what we like to call ourselves ;) ) then who are the real criminals or what do we call them ??

The personnel who perform crime over the internet are known as "CRACKERS".

• Who is a Cracker ?

People who break into someone’s computer systems or computer networks illegally for criminal purposes or harmful purposes are called “CRACKERS”. These guys are considered as “Cyber Criminals” .

There are various examples of hackers vs. crackers the recent one being the cyber war between India and Pakistan.

When the  Pakistani cyber defence personnel got their ass kicked really hard by Indian hackers and various Pakistani websites were defaced that resulted in a worldwide shame for Pakistan. They tried to return the favour but were able to hack some minor websites. You will find various cases like this try googling.

I hope through this post I was able to clear your confusions regarding who a HACKER actually is.
